Vnukovo Airport in September 2019 increased international passenger traffic by 47%
The passenger traffic of Vnukovo International Airport amounted to 2 million 486 thousand passengers in September. The growth rate of passenger traffic amounted to 9.9% compared to last year.
In September 2019, passenger traffic on international routes (IAL) amounted to 1 million 278 thousand people, which is 47.4% more compared to last year.
The share of international passenger traffic in the total volume of Vnukovo Airport increased by 13.1 percentage points and reached 51.4% against last year's 38.3%.
The most popular foreign destinations last month were Antalya, Larnaca, Istanbul, Tashkent, Enfida, Tivat, Dushanbe, Bodrum, Barcelona, and Yerevan.
The volume of transportation on domestic routes (DAL) amounted to 1 million 208 thousand passengers. The most popular domestic destinations in September were Sochi, St. Petersburg, Krasnodar, Makhachkala, Rostov-on-Don, Mineralnye Vody, Surgut, and Kaliningrad.
In total, from the beginning of 2019, 18 million 490 thousand passengers were served at Vnukovo Airport, which is 11.7% more than during the same period last year.
Currently, 28 airlines operate flights to Vnukovo International Airport, 13 of which are Russian.
Vnukovo International Airport is one of the largest air transport complexes in Russia. Annually, the airport serves about 200 thousand flights of Russian and foreign airlines. The route network of the airport covers the entire territory of Russia, as well as neighboring countries, Europe, America, Asia, and Africa. In 2018, Vnukovo International Airport broke a historical record and served 21 million 478 thousand passengers, which is 18.4% or 3 million 340 thousand passengers more than in 2017.
The airport complex Vnukovo has a total area of about 300 thousand square meters. Vnukovo airport is able to provide capacity of up to 35 million passengers per year.

In addition, Vnukovo Airport was recognized as the best airport in the category “International Airport with passenger traffic of over 10 million passengers per year” of the national award “Air Gate of Russia” as part of the V National Aviation Infrastructure Show NAIS-2018. In 2019, Vnukovo Airport was recognized again as the best airport in the category “International Airport with passenger traffic of over 15 million passengers per year”.
