Vnukovo International is one of the industry’s high-tech and innovation leaders with a distinct vision and specific requirements with regard to IT as a means of enhancing both the flight safety and the quality, and variety of passenger & airline services the Airport offers. Even now several cutting-edge ERM, financial, and real estate management IT solutions are online and in active use at Vnukovo.

Vnukovo has also had its passenger and baggage handling operations fully automated and computerized, and enabled with real-time data streaming into the AODB (Airport Operational Data Base). The data can then be accessed by the dispatchers and controllers employed in the Airport’s various divisions, and eventually be routed to the SAP ERP Financials module for billing, cost accounting, and balanced reporting that is extremely useful in the subsequent executive decision-making with regard to the Airport’s further operations. The solution of this kind and scope is an industry-wide first in the Russian Federation.

Yet another mission-critical IT success story that has been unfolding at Vnukovo International is the phased rollout and operation of GroundStar ERM Suite, allowing for a fully automated task-setting process, as regards any ramp/apron operation, with the former occurring in seamless coordination with the up-to-the-minute AC ground handling/turnaround schedules. With the aid of the German-made GroundStar Suite, yet another nationwide first is being attempted in Russia in terms of a comprehensive approach to the automation of an airport’s throughput capacity that encompasses the entire range of Vnukovo International’s operations.

The SITA CUTE platform has also been implemented and rolled out. Now that the project has been successfully completed, the platform enables access by the tenant airlines to their respective DCS (Departure Control System) from any of the Airport’s numerous check-in desks, thus significantly streamlining the entire passenger check-in and departure sequence, as well as improving the quality of customer service significantly. The availability of the CUTE platform has enabled the Airport to make the grade in terms of international-standard customer service it offers to its airline tenants.

By way of the next step to improve customer service for air travelers, the web check-in option has been launched and running on the Airport’s website, and CUSS self check-in kiosks installed throughout Vnukovo’s mainline passenger terminals, affording air travelers the freedom to check in for their flight independently and with minimum to no queuing and hassle. The option of cell phone check-in is coming soon.

Yet another step toward meeting air travelers halfway, has been made by introducing the option of real-time flight status updates via SMS and e-mail. By opting in on the service, virtually any of our passengers can be conveniently and timely notified of their flights’ ETA, actual arrival/departure time, any delays, and their duration, via updates sent directly to their cell phones, or e-mail boxes of choice.
