Airport Directions

By Mass Transit From Metro Yugo-Zapadnaya
(subway) at the southwestern (bottom) end of the red line. (Please note that the subway system operates from 5.30 a.m to 1.30 am with the transfer passages between lines closing at 1.00 a.m; all the signage and PA announcements including those of stations are in Russian only. Follow the color-coding on signs for accurate transfers between lines).
Once on a train, you will find strip maps of the line you are on (overhead on car walls) and maps of the entire subway system (eye-level on car walls) in both Russian and English. The subway ride from downtown Moscow will take a mere 25 minutes.
-
Your directions for exiting Metro Yugo-Zapadnaya: turn right once you get off the uptown train, proceed down the platform, up the stairs, turn right once out the station’s doors and into the pedestrian underpass, five yards down the underpass, turn left, walk up the stairs and out onto the street and 20 yards straight ahead you will find the Airport bus stop.
-
And it is another 25 minutes to half-an-hour by route 611 or
611ñ (express) bus. Please listen carefully to prerecorded stop announcements.
Your stop is Airport Vnukovo. The standard bus fare is RUB 20 when you buy a ticket from a ticket booth or a newsstand by the bus stop and
RUB 25 respectively if bought from the bus driver.
Please note, that all entry is through the front door where you will be expected to run your ticket (face and arrow down) through a slot in a turnstile for admittance. To get off at any of the intermediate stops bar the terminus, you will have to buzz the driver by using any of the buzzer buttons provided over each door or slightly to the side on a handrail. Buses run every 10 minutes or so.
-
Right next to the exit from Metro Yugo-Zapadnaya (on your left hand side) there is a curbside rank of number
45 route taxi vans that will also take you to the Airport only faster and in greater comfort then is normally found in a bus.
A modest RUB 100
fare (plus RUB 10
per each extra item of baggage) will buy you a ride in a comfortable smart-looking Ford van which will get you to the Airport’s forecourt in 15 to 20 minutes. Please note that route taxi vans will only depart when full. It generally takes a 10-minute wait for a full complement (vanload) of passengers to assemble.
From Metro Oktyabr'skaya (the Circle Line)
(subway)
Yet another convenient way to reach Vnukovo International is by one of
route 705m taxi vans that run between Metro Oktyabrskaya (Circle Line) and the Airport. Time in transit – 35-40 minutes. The comfortable Ford vans travel almost the entire length of Leninsky Avenue, making intermediate stops when requested by passengers.
The fare to the Airport is RUB 130 plus another RUB 10 for every extra item of baggage. Please note that there are no municipal buses or trolleybuses available on this route.
Your directions for exiting Metro Oktyabr’skaya (Circle Line): the station has but one exit, take the escalator up, and at the top, on clearing the exit turnstiles, turn right. On exiting the station's pavilion, it’ll be another twenty yards ahead diagonally to your right, where you will find the route 705m schedule sign, located between a newsstand and a StarDogs stand. When planning your trip to the Airport via Oktyabr’skaya, scenic though the route may be, please bear in mind the Moscow road traffic rush hours and jams, that are liable to cause delays in the route van traffic schedule [as posted].
Please make an allowance of some extra time, when opting to use this access route. A definite must in terms of unforgettable [first] impressions however, when making your way from the Airport into town.
By Aeroexpress Train
From Metro Kievskaya
(subway) (exit to Kievsky Train Station).
Once out on the Train Station forecourt, round the corner of the Station terminal building and a few yards down its front on your left-hand side you will see the entrance portico of the Vnukovo Aeroexpress Terminal.
From here you can catch one of the high-speed trains that ply between Moscow and the Airport as per the schedule that follows:
