Vnukovo International Airport Celebrates Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War

In accordance with tradition, on May 9, a solemn flower-laying ceremony took place at the monument on the central square of Vnukovo district to the heroic civil aviation pilots who died during the Great Patriotic War. A welcoming speech on behalf of Vnukovo Airport was delivered by a representative of the Vnukovo International Airport workforce and Colonel of the Russian Air Force Valery Bezobrazov: «On behalf of the Vnukovo International Airport staff, we wish veterans good health, happiness, peace, kindness and prosperity! We pay sacred homage to the courage and steadfastness of the heroic generation that defended our Homeland. The deeds of our fathers and grandfathers will live on for centuries to come!»

The event, which was attended by representatives of the management of Vnukovo airport, the Vnukovo district and municipal district administrations, veterans of the Great Patriotic War, students of educational institutions and residents of the district, heard words of gratitude and admiration for the courage of the Soviet troops, who achieved a heroic victory. Those present honored the memory of the fallen by laying wreaths and flowers at the base of the monument to the heroic civil aviation pilots who died during the Great Patriotic War.

In addition, representatives of Vnukovo International Airport joined the Russia-wide Immortal Regiment campaign.

On May 9, Vnukovo International Airport welcomes passengers and guests of the airport complex with festive decorations. The airport terminals were decorated with banners, and the forecourt was decorated with groups of flags. Congratulations were announced in the passenger terminals. Videos dedicated to the 77th anniversary of the Victory were shown on video screens.

By tradition, the Airport of our Victory exhibition was opened on the territory of Vnukovo Airport. This is a large-scale photo project dedicated to Victory Day in the Great Patriotic War, devoted to the valiant aviators of Vnukovo Airport, who did everything in their power to liberate our country and all mankind from the fascist invaders. You can visit the exhibition until the end of May, admission is free for all visitors.

During the preparations for the exhibition, photographic materials were provided by the Vnukovo District Historical Museum (the Exposition and Exhibition Department of the GBUK of Moscow KC Vnukovo), as well as PJSC Tupolev.

Moreover, Vnukovo Airport was recognized as the Best International Airport by Air Gateway of Russia award and Best Airport: overcoming challenges 2020 at National Aviation Infrastructure Show (NAIS) for three years running.
