On December 2, Russian entrepreneurs, businessmen, and representatives of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Isfahan Province of the Islamic Republic of Iran attended a working meeting. It took place at the 4-star Double Tree by Hilton Moscow — Vnukovo Airport hotel. The attendees discussed further cooperation between Russian and Iranian entrepreneurs in promising new areas.
The event was attended by Shakir Eshan, General Director of the Economic Coordination Department of Isfahan Province, Amirhossein Komeili, General Director for Mining and Trade of Isfahan Province, Suren Vardanyan, Vice-President of the Moscow Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Leonid Lozhechko, Deputy Chairman of the Russian-Iranian Business Council at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation, Valery Salygin, President of the International Fuel and Energy Development Academy, as well as employees of Vnukovo International Airport, Vnukovo-Cargo and other representatives of the Russian and Iranian business communities.
Isfahan Province is a major industrial center of Iran. The rapid development of its manufacturing sector has made it one of the most economically significant regions in the country. Isfahan Province focuses mainly on textiles, metallurgy, chemicals, oil refining, electrical engineering, aviation, automotive, pharmaceuticals, food, shoemaking, energy, trade, transportation, agriculture, tourism, the mining of copper, lead and zinc and construction stone.
This year, Vitaly Vantsev, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Vnukovo International Airport, was appointed Chairman of the Russian-Iranian Business Council at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of the Russian Federation. The Business Council aims to build a strong relationship between Russian and Iranian entrepreneurs, that is to say, to help Russian enterprises and organizations find Iranian business partners, as well as developing specific trade and investment projects.
During the meeting, the participants discussed bilateral business cooperation between Russia and Iran. The representatives of Vnukovo International Airport also showed guests the infrastructure of the airport, presented the mail and cargo airport facility, as well as the Vnukovo trade and exhibition center design project.
Vnukovo International Airport is one of Russia’s largest air transport hubs. Each year the airport handles approximately 200 000 flights by Russian and international airlines. Its network covers the whole territory of Russia as well as short- and long-haul destinations, Europe, the Americas, Asia and Africa. In 2019, Vnukovo International Airport served over 24 million passengers, breaking its own record. Vnukovo airport terminal, with a total area of about 300,000 square meters, can handle up to 35 million passengers annually. Vnukovo International Airport is the only airport in Russia to have received a Letter of Commendation from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin for its professional achievements and high performance. Moreover, Vnukovo Airport was recognized as the Best International Airport by Air Gateway of Russia award and Best Airport: overcoming challenges 2020 at National Aviation Infrastructure Show (NAIS) for three years running.
