Vnukovo International Airport and Mahan Air celebrate 9 years of successful cooperation

On June 1, 2013, Mahan Air, Iran's largest private air carrier based at the country's main Imam Khomeini Airport (Tehran), began operating regular flights from Vnukovo International Airport.

Today, the airline operates direct scheduled passenger flights on the Tehran – Moscow (Vnukovo) – Tehran route three times a week, on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays. In the summer season, an increase in the frequency of flights is expected.

Mahan Air's fleet consists of 41 aircraft of the Boeing and Airbus family (A-310-300, A-340-300, A-340-600). Since May 2022, a wide-body Boeing 747-400 has been additionally delivered to the route.

During the period of fruitful cooperation with Mahan Air, more than 2 thousand flights were performed along the route, more than 230,600 passengers and more than 2 million kg of cargo were transported.

It is important to note that during the COVID-19 pandemic, Mahan Air continued to operate cargo and passenger flights, including the transportation of humanitarian cargo – Sputnik-V vaccines.

In 2019 Vnukovo International Airport broke a historical record and served over 24 million passengers, which is 11.7% or 2.5 million passengers more than in 2018. Vnukovo airport complex with a total area of about 300 thousand square meters is able to provide a capacity of up to 35 million passengers per year. Vnukovo International Airport has the Gratitude of the President of the Russian Federation V.V. Putin for the achieved labor successes and high performance in professional activity. It is the one case of such Gratitude among the airports in Russia. In addition, Vnukovo Airport has been recognized as the best airport in the highest category "International Airport" of the national award "Air Gates of Russia" three years in a row, and also has become the winner in the nomination "Best Airport: Facing Challenges 2020" within the framework of the National Exhibition of Civil Aviation Infrastructure NAIS.
