Vnukovo International Airport and SCAT Airlines Celebrate Five Years of Successful Cooperation

Today, Vnukovo Airport and SCAT Airlines celebrate five years of successful cooperation. On September 6, 2017, the carrier performed its first regular passenger flight to our airport on the route Aktobe — Moscow. Since then, SCAT Airlines has transported more than 290,000 passengers and operated more than 3,120 flights from Kazakhstan cities to Moscow. The airline’s base airport is Shymkent International Airport. In 2018, the airline became a full member of the International Air Transport Association (IATA). Fleet of SCAT Airlines consists of modern aircraft, most of which are owned by the company. The carrier performs regular flights on CRJ-200, Boeing 767-300, 757-200, 737-700NG, 737 MAX8, 737-300, 737-500. SCAT Airlines has been in the industry for over 25 years. Now it flies to 50 domestic and more than 25 international destinations. SCAT Airlines annually opens up to 10 new routes, increasing passenger traffic by 40% on average.

Vnukovo International Airport is one of the largest air transport facilities in Russia. The airport handles about 200,000 flights of Russian and foreign airlines annually. Its network covers the whole territory of Russia as well as near and far-abroad countries, Europe, Americas, Asia and Africa. In 2019, Vnukovo International Airport broke a historical record and served more than 24 million passengers which is 11,7% or 2.5 million passengers more than in 2018. Vnukovo airport terminal with a total area of about 300,000 square meters is able to handle up to 35 million passengers per year. Vnukovo International Airport is the only airport in Russia to have received Letter of Commendation from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin for labor achievements and high performance. Moreover, Vnukovo Airport was recognized as the Best International Airport by Air Gateway of Russia award and Best Airport: overcoming challenges 2020 at National Aviation Infrastructure Show (NAIS) for three consecutive years.
