views 239

Vnukovo International Airport has successfully passed the certification audit of its environmental management system for compliance with ISO 14001:2015 requirements.

Environmental management system (EMS) is a set of planned and coordinated management actions in an organization aimed at preventing and reducing environmental impact.

Based on the results of the audit, the certification body SSU DEKUES LLC (Russian representative office of DQS Holding GmbH) made a positive decision to issue certificates confirming that EMS of Vnukovo International Airport JSC complies with the requirements of the international standard ISO 14001:2015, as well as GOST R ISO 14001- 2016.

DQS certificates are recognized worldwide.

The auditor noted the following strengths:

  • High interest and engagement of the top management of Vnukovo International Airport JSC in maintaining operation and continuous improvement of EMS;
  • Extensive and responsible work of environmental safety department in communicating and explaining the requirements of EMS to the business units of Vnukovo Airport to prepare for the certification audit of EMS;
  • Extensive measures aimed at reducing the environmental impact: designing local waste treatment facilities.

The success of EMS depends on the commitment of all levels and departments of the organization, integration of environmental management into business processes, and involvement of environmental managers in the overall management system.

EMS systematizes approaches to prevention and solution of environmental issues, reduces environmental impact; reduces the risk of emergencies and the scale of the aftermath (if any); increases competitiveness; helps to develop international cooperation and expand to new markets; improves company’s image and strengthens relationships with stakeholders.

In today’s business, a certified EMS increases relevance and authority of an organization, demonstrates how important it is to find solutions to environmental issues, and also gives a competitive edge when concluding contracts with foreign partners.
