Vnukovo International Airport Hosts Photo Exhibition "100th Founding Anniversary of Tupolev Design Bureau"

Since the 1st of November, passengers and guests of Vnukovo Airport will be able to see unique photographs from the archive of Tupolev, PJSC and learn historical facts and milestones of the country’s oldest aircraft design bureau. The exhibition is dedicated to the 100th founding anniversary of Tupolev Design Bureau.

During two months, everyone will be able to see pictures of the famous Tupolev aircraft − the first national all-metal ANT-2 aircraft, record-breaking ANT-25, best front-line bomber of the Great Patriotic War Tu-2, the first national transcontinental Tu-114, the world’s first supersonic passenger aircraft Tu-144 and the first national passenger jet aircraft Tu-104, the symbol of Vnukovo Airport.

The history of Vnukovo Airport is closely connected with Tupolev Design Bureau. Such aircraft as Tu-104, Tu-114, Tu-124, Tu-134, Tu-154, Tu-204 and Tu-204-300 took off for their first passenger flights from Vnukovo. At the entrance of the airport, there is a monument of the first national passenger jet aircraft Tu-104. In 2019, by decree of the President of the Russian Federation Vnukovo was named after A. N. Tupolev based on the results of the national vote. The bust of the great aircraft engineer is installed at the airport.

The exhibition «100th Founding Anniversary of Tupolev Design Bureau» is open for visiting in Terminal A of Vnukovo Airport (Level -1, exit to Aeroexpress trains) till the end of 2022. Admission is free.

Vnukovo International Airport is one of the largest air transport facilities in Russia. The airport handles about 200,000 flights of Russian and foreign airlines annually. Its network covers the whole territory of Russia as well as near and far-abroad countries. In 2019, Vnukovo International Airport broke a historical record and served more than 24 million passengers which is 11,7% or 2.5 million passengers more than in 2018. Vnukovo airport terminal with a total area of about 300,000 square meters is able to handle up to 35 million passengers per year. Vnukovo International Airport is the only airport in Russia to have received Letter of Commendation from the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin for labor achievements and high performance. Moreover, Vnukovo Airport was recognized as the Best International Airport by Air Gateway of Russia award at National Aviation Infrastructure Show (NAIS) for three consecutive years.
